Bohol's First Bet to Miss Philippines Earth

The inaugural winners of Miss Philippines Earth Bohol

Although Aileen Dango and Renee Sorraya Hassani represented the Municipalities of Loboc and Loay, respectively, back in 2011, this year will the first time that a woman will be wearing the Boholano sash in Miss Philippines Earth 2015.  And Gayle Suzette Yu, the 23-year-old licensed nurse from Calape will be fielded to the nationals after besting eight other candidates in the inaugural edition of Miss Philippines Bohol Search held at Island City Mall Activity Center last March 29.

Aside from the top plum, Gayle was also the recipient of six of the eight special awards handed out during the pageant: Miss Javita Coffee, Miss Creamsilk Beautiful Hair, People’s Choice Award, Best in Swimsuit, Best in Interview, and Best in Ecotourism Video where she promoted her hometown of Calape as one of Bohol’s eco-agricultural destinations.

Emerging as first runner up is the Genina Abrau from San Miguel.  Her fierceness and alluring elegance earned her the Best in Long Gown Award.

Coming in third place is the charming beauty from Tubigon, Jean Olive Zoilo.

The best in Talent award was ultimately awarded to Imaculada Cleofe Leopardas of Baclayon with her interpretative dance number that called for saving Mother Earth.

All nine contenders for the crown went through the scrutiny of the panel of judges composed of:  Miss Tagbilaran 1987 Fiel Angelie Araoarao-Gabin; pageant blogger, events host, and lifestyle columnist Raul Phillip Gatal; renowned pageant and events director Michael Ryan Tago; Miss Philippines Earth Water 2014 Kimberly Cover; and, Carousel Production’s International Franchise & Branding Manager for Miss Earth, Astrud Margaret Schuck.

Gayle will be flying off to Manila on April 9 for her participation in the Miss Philippines Earth 2015 where she will be try to beat other candidates from different parts of the Philippines, as well as Filipino communities abroad, to win the crown currently held by now reigning Miss Earth, Jamie Herrell of Cebu City.

The first MPE Bohol is beaming with so much pride and happiness.  Do us proud Gaylee!
